Changing Your Style Without Crimping Your Style

Bob Adams

It's nice to have a men's haircut that you like enough to keep getting for years, but occasionally you might want a change, especially as fashions change. If you've found a new hairstyle that you'd like to try, there are ways to go about getting it so that you don't end up regretting your trip to the barber.

See If There's a Temporary Version First

Sometimes the changes you have in mind in your head don't look so great on you in reality. If there's a temporary version of what you want, try that first. This could be a temporary hair dye or a non-permanent way to style the hair to resemble the perm you want. You get to try out the style for a few weeks to see if you really like it, and you don't have to wait months for your hair to grow out enough to get rid of the style if you don't like it.

Start Small and Remove More

"You can always remove more." It's a cliche at this point, but it is so fundamentally true that you should follow it anyway. If you're looking at drastically changing hair length, have the barber cut a little, and then evaluate. You can always cut more, but if the barber cuts too much at the beginning, you often end up having to wait for a couple of weeks before it grows out enough to try re-cutting. Plus, whatever cut you did get just looks unkempt until you go back to the barber.

Try to Find a Picture of What You Want

If you have an idea in your head about what you'd like to try, please try to find a picture, even if the cut is the same one that a famous person has. People change hairstyles all the time, especially a lot of celebrities, and your barber might not be aware of the cut that your chosen famous-person model has right now. And even if the cut is fairly common, you want the barber to try to go by the specific cut that your chosen model has, not a generic description.

It's also a lot easier for the barber to explain to you why the cut might or might not be good for your face and hair-care preferences if the barber has a picture to go by. Pointing out specific locations on the picture of the haircut is better than hoping you're both on the same page during a discussion about styling and cutting.

About Me
A New Hairstyle for Summer

For me, summer is a busy season. During this beautiful, warm time of the year, I like to go to the beach, play with my dog outside, go swimming, and engage in other fun outdoor activities. Because I spend more time outside during the summer months, having a low maintenance hairstyle is crucial. I prefer to keep my hair shoulder-length at this time. In doing so, I can put my hair up in a ponytail. However, because my hair isn’t extremely long, it won’t get weighed down by stifling humidity. If you like to spend your days in the great outdoors when the weather is warm outside, consider visiting a salon near you in order to get a fun, new hairstyle. On this blog, I hope you will discover the best haircuts for outdoor enthusiasts, no matter the season.
